Functions of Hard Disk for Computer Unit

Hard disk drive, in short is HDD, or so called hard drive, in short is HD, is hardware component that stores any secondary data and contains of magnetic disk inside of this hardware. It is invented by an IBM in the year 1956 which is the very stage of computer equipment introduced. 

The size of hard disk at that very early stage is so big. The diameter of the disk is almost 60 cm with rpm rotation was only 1200 rpm and storing capacity only 4,4 MB. Imagine how far it has developed for the past 50 years. We can easily find any disk which has diameter for only 0,6 cm with storing capacity up to 750 GB. Nearly thousand times from how it was initially.

The data that stored in this disk will not be lost just because of electric charge is given to it. In a single hard disk, there are more than one disk, for which will be expanded automatically to increased their storing capability when we need it. You can imagine if we do not have this hard disk storing media in our computer. We will not be able to save any of our data file or any software into our computer. It will simply make our computer useless without this.

Today, we can see that hard disk size is getting more and more thinner, yet has bigger and bigger storing capacity. Compared to how it was initially invented in 1956, the hard disk size is huge and almost impossible to carry elsewhere and has to be closely attached to the computer itself.

Not only the size, the storing capacity has grown from only 4,4 MB when it was invented to nearly million times bigger. We can easily find a hard disk with terabyte capacity today.
